Amy Collins, MSN, FNP
For Nurse Practitioner Amy Collins, serving as a health care professional means paying attention to everything.
“The way I approach health care is by taking everything a patient shares with me into consideration,” she says. “I try to make sure that I’m thorough and complete and that everything is being addressed.”
That jibes well with the philosophy here at CVCNM, where the emphasis is on holistic care that considers the whole person.
A native of Owosso, MI, Amy graduated from high school there in 1993 and earned her first dollar as a teen bagging groceries at the local store.
She earned her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1998 from Northern Michigan University and soon after joined the cardiac unit at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. She next worked in Big Rapids, specializing in intensive care, then took a job at a medical center in Traverse City.
Amy earned her degree as a Nurse Practitioner from Grand Valley State University in 2004, then worked for a private cardiology practice in Traverse City until 2011. The next three years she spent specializing in internal medicine at a medical center in Traverse City. From 2014 to 2024, she worked with orthopedic surgery.
She joined CVCNM in June 2024.
Amy has been married 25 years to her husband, Dave, a special education instructor. They have three children – Rachel, 19, Ellie, 17, and Daniel, 14.
In her spare time, Amy enjoys biking, hiking, gardening and running. She has finished one half Ironman triathlon, many half-marathon runs and a few full-length marathons.
She’s excited about working at CVCNM in part because it once again puts her alongside the practice’s founder, Dr. Roberto Corpus, with whom she worked some years ago at another Traverse City practice.
She’s also looking forward to “working as a member of a team that is very experienced…and is very familiar with cardiology and this patient population.”
